The especial combination of herbs and spices used in preparing Thai dishes is what gives Thai food its very distinctive character. There are a few herbs and spices which form the basis for Thai cooking.

Of course herbs from Thailand - The Thai cuisine has the reputation of being one of the best cuisines in the world. This is characterized in particular by their fresh, healthy ingredients, fresh herbs, gentle preparation and not least by their sharpness. The Thais love the food spicy. The term "sharp" is really to be taken seriously in its meaning. Thai dishes are often seasoned with chili and curries and flavored with ginger and spices, but most important is the harmony of the cooking ingredients.

Basil Tree - A rare and exotic basil

Basil Tree - A rare and exotic basil Basil Tree is a non-stop harvest plant. Also known as Clove basil.

Basil Tree is a non-stop harvest plant. Also known as Clove basil, this is a quite distinct species in being a much-branched, shrubby perennial, woody at the base. An agreeably, sweetly perfumed plant with fuzzy, lime-green leaves up to 4ins long, it bears dense spikes of small, pale yellow flowers.

You can grow this plant as the other basil species simply as a potted plant. The basil will develop a real woody trunk and a massive ball head. In summer it can be grown outside in the garden or on the terrace, in winter in the winter garden or in the window niche in the house.

Use in the kitchen

This tasty variety should be constantly picked for culinary purposes, for cooking and also for the preservation of the beautiful crown shape. It is best to cut stems of 5 cm in length from which the leaves are plucked. At the interface, the plant branches and forms new stems and leaves. With generous harvest, the plant is cut back to the last leaf, even now the basil drives out again. The more shoots are removed, the bushier the plant becomes.

It smells pleasantly of essential oils and has found its way into many kitchens, above all through its unmistakable taste. Tastes great with tomato with mozzarella, pesto or seasoning Mediterranean and Asian food. The flowers can also be used in the kitchen. Basil flowers taste delicious and are an asset in salads or sandwiches.

And it is like having a living, green medicine chest in the garden. Tea of fresh basil leaves is excellent medicine for all digestive upsets: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting. and stomach cramps. Basil is also said to clear the head and help keep you focused.

How to Grow Thai-Herbs
When I first fell in love with gardening, my biggest seducer was herbs. I found herbs to be not only one of the easiest types of plants to grow, but they were also the most fun to create a garden with - not to mention the most versatile group of plants out there.
Among the tremendous species of herbs from which I could choose, basil (Ocimum basilicum) was one of my favorites to experiment with. I found that not only was basil easy to grow and handy for the kitchen, but storing and propagating basil was a snap.
