Natural soap is the trend, the desire for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle continues to prevail. This also includes a natural skincare, which does not require mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, coloring and preservatives and, of course, without animal experiments.

Apart premium natural ingredients, natural soaps are providing sensory experiences with unique scents, colors and shapes. Colorful looks and pleasant scents are already very basic and popular properties of natural soaps.

Citrus bergamia, the bergamot orange, is a fragrant fruit the size of an orange, with a yellow color similar to a lemon.

Genetic research into the ancestral origins of extant citrus cultivars found bergamot orange to be a probable hybrid of Citrus limetta and Citrus aurantium. Extracts have been used to scent food, perfumes, and cosmetics.Use on the skin can increase photosensitivity, resulting in greater damage from sun exposure; excessive consumption can be toxic.

Fragrance

Bergamot peel is used in perfumery for its ability to combine with an array of scents to form a bouquet of aromas which complement each other. About one-third of all men's and about half of women’s perfumes contain bergamot essential oil. Bergamot is a major component of the original Eau de Cologne composed by Farina at the beginning of 18th century in Germany. The first record of bergamot oil as fragrance ingredient is 1714, to be found in the Farina Archive in Cologne.

Uses

An essence extracted from the aromatic skin of this sour fruit is used to flavour Earl Grey and Lady Grey teas, and confectionery (including Turkish delight). It is often used to make marmalade, particularly in Italy. A company based in San Giorgio Morgeto, makes a digestiv liqueur derived from bergamot marketed under the name Liquore al Bergamotto.

Antiseptic

The same disinfectant and antibiotic properties of bergamot oil make it a good antiseptic agent. It not only promotes fast healing of wounds, cracks on the skin and heels, eczema, and itching, but it also protects wounds from becoming septic. It not only treats and heals the effects of other infections, but inhibits the formation of new infections.

Other Benefits

Bergamot essential oil is also a tonic, meaning that it tones up the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, excretory, and nervous system, as well as skin and muscles. It is also anticongestive and is used in vaporizers to relieve congestion and respiratory problems, particularly during coughs and colds.

Although research has been limited on some of these issues, the respiratory and digestive effects of bergamot essential oil may be even more extensive than originally thought.

Deodorant

This property of bergamot oil makes it popular with the younger generation who is always trying the new deodorants on the market, searching for something truly refreshing and natural. Bergamot essential oil is an excellent deodorant.

Bergamot essential oil is popular in aromatherapy.

Bergamot is used in many skin care creams. In the past, psoralen extracted from bergamot oil has been used in tanning accelerators and sunscreens.
